Our community remembered those who lost their lives on 9/11/01 with an ecumenical service at St. Stephen's Church on Sunday, September 11, at 7 pm. As we did in the days and months after 9/11, our community came together again in mourning, somber reflection and friendship. The commemorative service at St. Stephen’s Church began with a candlelit procession at the 9/11 monument and a field of nearly 3,000 American flags arranged by Boy Scout Troop and Pack 305. The service included readings from scripture, and remarks by Father Jason Makarow, Robert Strauch whose brother was killed on 9/11, and Mayor Alberto Santos. To the survivors and the Kearny families who lost loved ones on 9/11 --Thomas Sullivan, Judith Reese, Michelle Robothan, Antonio Rocha, George Strauch, Antoinette Duger and Patrick Dickinson – we will always remember.
