On Veteran’s Day, Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at 11 a.m., American Legion Post 99 held the community’s annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony at Veteran’s Memorial Park located at Kearny Avenue and Beech Street. The Kearny Police Honor Guard and members of the American Legion, VFW and Marine Corps stood at attention at the monuments. The program included words from American Legion Commander Keith McMillan and Mayor Alberto G.
Hundreds of dogs and their owners from Kearny and neighboring communities arrived in costumes at Arlington Depot Park on a beautiful fall day for the 2nd Annual Kearny Doggie Halloween Parade & Festival sponsored by the KUEZ, K9 Corner and Bone Appetit Spa and Barkery.

On Saturday, October 3, 2015, Pathways to Independence, Inc. held their Annual Walk-A-Thon at West Hudson Park. Community leaders, including Mayor Alberto G. Santos and Members of the Kearny Town Council, Carol Jean Doyle, Susan McCurrie and Marytrine De Castro took part in the Annual Walk-A-Thon with residents, Pathway to Independence consumers and their family and friends to raise funds for the organization.
On Sunday, July 19, 2015, the Peruvian Civic Association of New Jersey (PCANJ) celebrated Peruvian Independence with a parade through Harrison and Kearny. A large crowd turned out to enjoy Kearny’s 4th of July celebration at Veteran’s Field. Families began arriving in the late afternoon, setting up seats in the prime viewing areas to listen to the Garden State Concert Band’s performance and to enjoy the fireworks display.
