Your tax bills for the 3rd and 4th quarters of calendar year 2018 and the 1st and 2nd quarters of calendar year 2019 are enclosed. The due date for the 3rd quarter tax bill is September 4, 2018. Despite the extreme heat, one of the largest crowds in recent memory enjoyed Kearny’s 4th of July celebration. Families began arriving early in the afternoon, setting up seats in the prime viewing areas to listen to the Garden State Orchestra’s performance and to enjoy the fireworks display.
Mayor Alberto G. Santos is pleased to announce that on June 27, 2012 the Town of Kearny in cooperation with North Hudson Community Action Corporation (NHCAC) will hold a job fair for area residents. The job fair will be held in the Kearny Main Library, 318 Kearny Avenue, on the lower level from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. In an afternoon ceremony on Tuesday, June 5th, Mayor Alberto G. Santos joined First Ward Council Members Alexa Arce and Albino Cardoso, and members of the Recreation Commission in officially opening the new Brighton Avenue Playground on Brighton Avenue, located in a residential neighborhood between Bergen Avenue and Wilson Avenue. The new 27,000 square foot playground area includes a slide and climbing boulder.
At the March 27, 2012 meeting of the Mayor and Council an ordinance revising the Town Code and updating the allowable charges for municipal police towing was approved. The last time fees for towing and related services were addressed by the Mayor and Council was in 1998.
On Sunday March 11, 2012 Irish eyes were smiling at the 39th Annual West Hudson St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Under clear blue skies, thousands of people lined Kearny Avenue to enjoy the parade. This year Grand Marshall Lawrence Bennett and Deputy Marshall Michael O’Donnell led the march through Harrison, East Newark and Kearny.
