Town of Kearny Sesquicentennial: Presentation of the Town Hall 150th Anniversary Banners

(Kearny, NJ) – On Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. Mayor Alberto G. Santos held the 150th Anniversary Banners presentation at the Kearny Town Hall.  The presentation of the anniversary banners provided the opportunity to call attention to the historic, milestone sesquicentennial anniversary and the series of commemorative events planned to mark the anniversary.

(KEARNY, NJ) – Mayor Alberto G. Santos announced today that the design for the Town Hall 150th Anniversary banners has been selected.  Daniel Veloso, a third year Kearny High School Graphic Arts student and Graphic Arts instructor Joseph Domalewski collaborated on nine comprehensive banner designs for the Town’s 150th Anniversary Committee to choose from.  Mayor Santos explained, “All of the designs were creative and well-designed.

Town of Kearny Celebrates Irish Cultural Heritage, Music and Dance: United Irish Associations of West Hudson Saint Patrick’s Day Parade

On Sunday, March 12, 2017, the Town of Kearny celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by participating in the 44th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade organized by the United Irish Associations of West Hudson.  While it was it was an extremely cold day, the weather didn’t stop marchers and spectators from participating in the annual event.  The Parade began in Harrison and traveled along Frank E.

Town Of Kearny Celebrates 150th Anniversary: Banner Sponsorship Program Available To Residents And Businesses

Kearny, N.J. (March 9, 2017) – Mayor Alberto G. Santos announced today that the Town of Kearny Sesquicentennial Committee will offer residents and local businesses the opportunity to participate in the banner sponsorship program to commemorate the sesquicentennial anniversary.

Reported Crimes In Kearny Decrease By 4% In 2016 And Reach A New 16-Year Low

The Town of Kearny’s Uniform Crime Report Index for 2016 shows there were 1,078 reported crimes in 2016, a drop of 4% from the previous year’s number of 1,130.  The overall decrease is consistent with the downward trend in reported crimes in Kearny since 2012.  The report also shows that reported crimes in Kearny are at a 16-year low and that the Police Department responded to over 28,000 incidents during the course of 2016.

Recognizing the Life and in Mourning of the Passing of Councilman Jonathan D. Giordano

It is with profound sadness that we mourn the loss of our colleague Jonathan D. Giordano who served as 2nd Ward Council Member for the Town of Kearny.  He was a lifelong resident of Kearny who graduated from Kearny High School in 1984 and attended New Jersey City University before joining his father in his family’s business, West Hudson Lumber and Millwork.  He began his service as Councilman on January 1, 2015.  He also served as a member of the Kearny Planning Board.

Kearny UEZ Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Festival

On Thursday, December 1, 2016 residents celebrated at the Annual Kearny UEZ Tree Lighting Festival outside Town Hall on Kearny Avenue. The festival has become a popular town-wide tradition and the kickoff of the holiday season in Kearny. The evening began at 5:30 p.m. with a concert on the steps of Town Hall featuring performances by the Kearny High School Ensemble, a choir ensemble of 6th graders from all of the Kearny Public Schools and members of the Next Step Dance Company.
