Management/Filing Assistant
 
The Town of Kearny is seeking a temporary (4 to 6 months assignment), part-time, self-motivated individual to work in the Department of Administration.  The candidate shall have knowledge of general office procedures, policies and guidelines to sort, index, and file records.  Candidate shall have the ability to communicate effectively, be highly organized, and develop effective work methods.  Candidate shall be principal management and filing assistant to personnel office.  The ability to work Monday through Friday, up to 24.5 hours per week.  The position is only temporary for a period up to six months.  Compensation: $12.00-18.00/per hour, DOQ.  All applicants must submit a completed application. Part Time Municipal Recycling Coordinator
 
The Town of Kearny is seeking a person who shall be designated as its municipal certified recycling coordinator pursuant to N.J.S.A. 13:1E-99.16.  The Municipal Recycling Coordinator (MRC) shall, among other incidental duties maintain and report recycling tonnage annually (Tonnage Grants), as required by N.J.S.A. 13:1E-99.16(e) and communicate via E-mail to the County and State including the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and county recycling coordinator.  The MRC shall meet with the county recycling coordinator at least annually to determine progress toward meeting the recycling goals of the county recycling plan as required by N.J.A.C. 7:26A-12.3.  The MRC will maintain detailed records regarding recycling training and may be responsible for public notifications concerning recycling opportunities.  The MRC shall provide administrative support under N.J.A.C. 7:26A-11.5 respecting the source separation exemption including responsibility to review exemption applications, issue approvals where consistent with the municipal code, and revoke exemptions upon a generator’s failure to meet the conditions of the exemption.  The MRC may assist the governing body with Standards for Municipalities found in Title 7, Chapter 26A of the New Jersey Administrative Code and implementation of Chapter XX, Solid Waste Management, of the Kearny Town Code.  Candidates shall be a Certified Recycling Professional with the State of New Jersey and shall maintain such certification.  Applications for part-time employment or proposals as an independent contractor should be forwarded to Robert Smith, Administrator, at RSmith@Kearnynj.org.
