Mail Clerk
 
Part time mail clerk needed to serve many of the Town of Kearny locations.  10-20 hours per week Monday -Friday 9-5pm  Starting at  $12 hour 
 
 
Duties will include routine work concerned with receipt, sorting, and distributing of interoffice and US mail. Makes regular/special runs for intradepartmental collections of outgoing mail.  May drive, load, and unload the mail truck. May  Prepares outgoing mail for delivery to a state/local department post office.  May weigh, stamp, and deliver outgoing mail directly to the United States Postal Service.

LICENSE:
 
Appointees will  be required to possess a driver's  license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
 
 
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of federal laws/regulations and department/jurisdiction regulations pertaining to processing of mail and their application to specific situations after a period of training.
 
 
Knowledge of United States postal regulations pertaining to special delivery, registered, insured, special handling, and other specialized categories of mail after a period of training. Knowledge of the types/qualities of various types of envelopes, cards, and other materials which are used in various programs after a period of training. Ability to follow strict procedures for the receipt, date stamping, and intradepartmental distribution of incoming mail/packages including recording of signature where required.  Ability to follow strict delivery/pickup schedules. Ability to organize clerical/mechanical work involved in the mail section and develop effective work procedures. Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units. Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform duties of this position.  American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.

Court Attendant
 
Part Time Court Attendant needed for Municipal Court 10-20 hours per week with various day and evening hours as needed. Bus Drivers
 
Part time per diem bus drivers needed to transport residents on local routes. Must possess a valid NJ driver’s license CDL class B, passenger endorsement. Law enforcement officer

Full time court officers needed to make sure courtroom is safe for judges, spectators, legal staff, employees, witnesses and defendants.  Will monitor metal detectors before court is in session and effectively clear courtrooms when emergencies or dangerous situations arise, maintain radio contact with police and may be called upon to take action to make arrests, control combative or disorderly persons and employ force as situations require and other related duties.  35 hours per week.  $24 per hour plus benefit package.     Click here for application    EOE/ADA

Satisfactory completion of a training course approved by the NJ Police Training Commission.  Candidates must have a valid NJ PTC Certificate for Special Law Enforcement Officer II
No criminal background.  All successful candidates must pass a comprehensive background investigation which includes fingerprints, a medical examination, drug test and psychological exam, where applicable.  All are a condition of employment.
Ability to read, write and speak English
Be of good moral character 
Valid NJ drivers license
Ability to perform all essential functions of a police officer

Public Safety Telecommunicator Trainee

We are accepting application to keep on file for future vacancies.  The position receives and responds to telephone requests for emergency assistance, fire,  medical or other emergency services, dispatches appropriate units to response sites and other related work as required. Part time position to work 10 / 12 hour shifts for a total of 24 hours per week.  Shifts include days, nights, weekends and holidays.  One (1) year experience in dispatching emergency vehicles preferred.
